I studied Metallurgical engineering at M.E.T.U. in Ankara, Turkey, during the years 1984-1988. Later I obtained my M.Sc and Ph.D. degrees in Materials Science from University of Manchester in 1992 and 1994.

I held several research scientist positions at University of Manchester and Netherlands Institute of Metals Research (N.I.M.R.) from 1994 to 2001.

I worked as an application group manager on development of Electron Back Scatter Diffraction (EBSD) technique at HKL Technology A/S and Oxford Instruments plc from 2002 to 2009.

I rejoined Univeristy of Manchester in 2009. Presently my interests are Focused Ion Beam (FIB) and 3D-EBSD techniques.
