Scientific Case

The reliability of high voltage electrical insulation is critical to the quality of our power network and our ability to connect renewable generation to the electricity system. The most common electrical failure of solid high voltage insulation is electrical treeing. Electrical trees are channels of degradation in polymeric insulation caused by high electrical stress. This work aims to study the morphology of electrical trees in filled and unfilled epoxy resin.
